Biodanza® sees the light in 1960, in the psychiatric hospital of the Catholic University of Santiago del Chile, where, thanks to his founder, the Chilean psychologist and anthropologist Rolando Toro, became a regular class in the Pontifical University of Chile, Institute of Aesthetics, but what is more important, it brought smiles, movement, connection to life in the respect to be valued as human beings.
ROLANDO TORO
The creator of Biodanza® System is Rolando Toro Araneda (Chile, 1924-2010), he held the chair of Expression and Art psychology at the Pontifical University of Chile, Institute of Aesthetics.
He has been teacher at the Center for Anthropological Medical Studies of the Medical School at the University of Chile.
Rolando Toro took his inspiration from anthropological and ethological sources. He has done researches about the expansion of conscience and creativity.
Rolando Toro is also a poet and a painter.
Biodanza® is a world movement
The movement of Biodanza® grows every day more around the world. We can find it in Northern, Central and particularly in Southern America`s countries. It`s also developing in South Africa, Australia, Japan and Russia.
In Europe is present in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Since March 1995 have been founded the "EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION of BIODANZA® TEACHER, System Rolando Toro - A.E.I. B.", which has the aim of protecting and defending the European Biodanza® teachers and of spreading the Biodanza® movement in Europe and in the whole world.
